Registered Nurse (RN)

Cottage Grove Place is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to assist in our Choice In-Home (CIS) and Assisted Living departments. This position would work approximately 2 days per week.

Working in accordance with established policies and procedures and under the direction of the Wellness Navigator, this person is responsible for monitoring direct resident cares in the Home Health department, monitoring performance of the Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Oral Medication Technicians (OMTs) providing those cares, assisting in direct resident cares as able around nurse required tasks, administering medications and treatments according to the resident’s plan of care, maintaining appropriate medical record documentation, communicating with residents and families, and assisting in response to medical emergencies in the areas of Cottage Grove Place outside of the nursing facility.

  • Receives, documents and implements physician orders. Accept and initiate physician orders with accuracy for content. Provide appropriate notation and performance of the orders received. Document in resident’s medical record with appropriate frequency, concision, completeness, professionalism meeting all regulatory requirements. Provide accurate, holistic assessment and treatment of each resident. Provide for residents’ rights as defined in the Resident Bill of Rights.

  • Perform medication administration per physician order with zero (0) medication errors.

  • Monitor, teach, redirect and discipline CNA/OMT in the performance of their resident cares. Provide expectation of excellence, set the example, and follow-up in professional manner.

  • Admits, transfers, and discharges residents in coordination with other disciplines. Utilizes information at hand to complete process of admission, transfer or discharge.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of universal precautions and other infection control procedures. Documents all pressure sores, skin tears, and infections in Infection Control Surveillance Book. Supervises staff compliance. Reports breaks in technique to Human Resource Manager.

  • Communicate professionally with resident, physician, family and peers. Communicate resident condition/needs to Wellness Navigator/Resident Services Director professionally and as appropriate. Always carry communication equipment and respond to calls in a timely, professional, polite, and efficient manner consistently.

  • Accept all medical emergency calls from the residents in the apartments and respond to the emergency.

  • Contributes to a positive, healthy and safe work environment.

  • Attend monthly Care Associate and In-Service meetings.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from accredited Nursing program.
  • Active license with Iowa Board of Nursing.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Able to demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to think quickly and act appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Proficient in computers.
  • Ability to work with sensitive/confidential material.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in health care and geriatric care.
